A GOOD BOY, “Jealousy” & the Young Cut Group

Early Spring I received an email from a theater production group called 'Young Cut’ in the UK. They were preparing to open a new play called A GOOD BOY at the Etcetera Theatre in London. They contacted me because they’d seen one of my paintings (“Jealousy“, 2008) and wanted to use it for their play.

I sent them what they’d needed for print, and had actually forgotten about it until this morning when I got my mail. A large envelope was in my box stamped “Royal Mail.”

The production group had sent me posters, programs and advertising cards created for the play and personal note of thanks from James Gilles, the actor who had initially contacted me. They had included my name in the gratitude list on the program and also credited me personally, The Red Chair Gallery and listed my website URL.

Young Cut Theater Group's focus is to promote/showcase new writing and young actors. As I looked at photos of the cast of A GOOD BOY I was absolutely blown away at what a gorgeous group of young people make up this company.

As far as the play- “A GOOD BOY”-
The play is written by award winning Stephen Doran and directed by Robin Hudson. As James explained to me, the play is about ‘a young man who is so jealous of the his girlfriend he goes into a rage’.

Story:
“In a small studio flat in East London a young couple have the rest of their lives to look forward to. They are intelligent, good looking and in love. Life is perfect until Sam’s curiosity begins to question his more sexually liberated fiancé’s past...

London Theater Review- Andrew Taylor gave A GOOD BOY 3 stars and stated it was- “Enjoyable and quirky relationship drama" “…the play is given emotional depth by the performances of Gillies, Beedle and Sabet. The fraught yet believable relationships explored in the play give it dramatic intensity. 'A Good Boy' is worth watching for the strong performances of the cast …”

The Cast included- George Gillies (Sam), Georgina Beedle (Josie), James Gillies (Stuart), Josh Taylor (Matt) and Scarlett Sabet (Elizabeth).

A GOOD BOY ran at the Etcetera Theater from May 31st through June 4th.
