Do you remember me? Think back to when you were a child. If you put your ear close to mine you will hear the joyful squeals and laughter of children; the organ music, whispered sweet promises of lovers and the thunder of my hoofs that came from the magic of your dreams. You will see the twinkling lights and smell the cotton candy. I am a thing of cherished memories to hold for all your life. It was my purpose and never to be forgotten.
I am alone now. I lay amongst the boxes and debris in this dark corner. My paint has pealed away and my legs are broken. Darkness surrounds me and only quiet looms before me. The spider strings her web over me and dust covers my eyes.
Do you remember me?
I long to see the sky again and feel the wind on my body. I would run like wild fire across the hills and plains of your imagination.
Do you remember me?
Will you come again? Is my purpose over? Is this is my final resting place? Am I lost to time?
Do you remember me?
Close your eyes and let the magic begin: You will see my body lifting! You will see the artist’s hands sculpting! You will smell the sweet pungence of new paint! You will see I am bold, strong and sparkle with the brightest gold and billant colors! Feel the sky and wind! Hear the organ music and the joyful squeals and laughter of children! Listen to the whispered sweet promises of lovers and magical thunder of my hoofs!
-All you have to do is remember me- for I am your cherished memory to hold for all your life. I am your Carousel Horse and you were my purpose.

I know- pretty sappy! I love carousel horses and so loved them as child. Do you remember the carousel?
(Note: I gave this guy a little horse smile. I couldn’t resist! Gave me a chuckle as I painted.)This is my submission for The Artist Challenge, Theme Gallery #11, The Giving Tree. The goal was to symbolize unconditional love in some form as Shel Silverstein did in his book.
My painting is 16”x 20” and acrylic on canvas panel and called “Carousel Horse.” The original will be priced at $695. Somerset Velvet Paper Prints will be available (12”x16”) for $69.
