I’m Better Than You Are and I Can Prove It & The Wonderful

Close your eyes for minute. Picture a world where everything looks exactly the same. Let’s say that everything is a powder green:

The powder green houses and buildings are all identical. The powder green cars are all the same. Inside our powder green homes, we all have exactly the same powder green furniture. We all have two children: one a boy and one a girl who we dress in powder green clothing. They go to same powder green school with all the other children dressed in powder green.

In fact, we all wear our powder green suits and do the same job in our powder green office. We all have the same amount of powder green money. It is a perfect powder green world and we want for nothing because we are all the same…and powder green!!

Then we hear a scream: “I’m Better Than You Are and I Can Prove It!”

Doesn’t fit with our perfect powder green world, does it?

God bless our differences, huh? We are all so individual in our likes, desires and style. Not only that, do you realize we’re born show-offs? From the moment we pull ourselves to our feet for the very first time, we look around for our audience, “Look at me! Look what I can do! Look how wonderful I am!”

Professionally I had to be proficient and work in so many different artistic styles- none that I’d really classify as my own. That’s kind of a hard nut for any artist. No matter what medium or genre we choose, artist have a common goal: finding our own style/ our own form of wonderful. Of course, now that I’m retired, I’m just having a blast doing my own thing.

By the way, thanks for letting me show off my version of wonderful every week.
