Otis was a very good man. He went for a walk every morning to start his day off right. He loved to feel the sun on his face. This particular morning when he started off on his walk, he heard the screech of car tires. A beautiful little dog was hit by a car. Otis stood horrified as the lifeless little body was lifted and taken to the roadside. The dog was most certainly dead. He looked at the little pooch. He had one black ear and one white and was just the type of dog Otis had always wanted.
The incident was so upsetting that Otis took off running as fast as I could. Breathless he found himself standing in front of a small pie shop he’d never noticed before. The sign read: "The Sunshine Pie and Coffee Café". He stepped in and took a seat.
The waitress brought him his coffee. Looking at his distressed face, she asked if he was okay. As he told her about the accident he had just witnessed, his eyes filled with tears. She put her hand on his shoulder and said, “I’ve got just the thing for you.”
Quickly she returned and brought Otis a piece of Sunshine Pie and told him to make a wish. She claimed that after eating a piece of her Sunshine pie people became millionaires and even found the love of their lives. She said, “Make it a good one!”
Feeling better for her kindness, Otis smiled and thanked her. In short order he put a few dollars on the table and decided to continue on his walk.
As he opened the door to the Café, a beautiful little dog with one black ear and one white stood wagging his tail and looking up at Otis. He bent down to the pooch and said, “You want to go home with me, buddy?”

Someimes Vikki I'd like the whole pie, not just a piece. But that would be greedy.
Hi June of Oz,
I don't think that would be greedy.
We could all use the whole pie to get through life.

Hi Vikki,
The ribbons look wonderful! I enjoy seeing how you use colors a lot. The purple looks great in the ribbon, and I really like how it's subtly reflected in the sun face as well. It looks so rich and palpable. Great work!

Hi Michael,
Thanks. It's just a big ribbon doodle of sorts.

Hi Vikki,
I like your sunshine painting. Bright and sunny, which makes me want to smile.
Like June, I'd like a whole pie to myself. I'll just buy another pie for the rest to share amongst themeselves. LOL.
Happy endings warm me.
Hi Tashabud,
I'm with you and June. I'd like the whole pie somedays. And, I think when I really get down to it, like Otis, my wish wouldn't be for millions of dollars.

Pie? Did someone say Pie? I'm a big pie guy. But I do believe in leaving some for the other guy.
Hi Lucy!
You're just a big old piece of Sunshine Pie in yourself.
Thanks for stopping by.

What an incredible painting and your story, fantastic. Your paintings are always so mystical too. Gosh what a great job. Look at those ribbons...wow.
Hi Sandy,
And thank you. It was a fun one to do.

I got shivers from the story - loved it. And WOW to the painting. It makes me smile, just looking at it. Thanks, I needed that just now :-)
Hi Aleta,
I'm glad you liked it. I really love writing these stories. I think I mainly do it for my amusement.
