Nothing Worse or a Human Condition

She ran back into the room and scanned everything in front of her. She threw her purse down and screamed at the top of her lungs, Well it certainly can’t get any worse than this!”

She could feel her body being swept with a hot flash and perspiration began to pour off her forehead. Great! Now her makeup is going to be ruined too!

She opened drawers turning their content out to floor. Clothing flew from the closet! Sheets were ripped from the bed and carpets were overturned as her panic raged.

She couldn’t breath and her heart was pounding so loud she could hear it in her ears. She felt she might retch. She looked for a paper bag in the kitchen. Just breath into it they say. No! It won’t work!!!

She collapsed in a chair and tears poured down her face. She would loose her job! She would loose everything! Maybe she should call a cab? No! Then they’ll really KNOW how stupid she is! Just face it! Life is over!!!!!

Looking up through blurry eyes she saw the glint of metal on the kitchen table. They had been there the entire time!

She dried off her face, straighten herself up and felt her calm return. A smile came over her face.

She picked up her car keys and went to work. It was going to be good day!

Yes, I exaggerate, but ever felt like that? It's just another part of the human condition. Being able to laugh at ourselves is one of greatest treasures we own.
The portait is charcoal and chalk on bond paper.

You are nothing short of amazing. How can one person be so good - so very good - in so many different styles? I am just amazed at your mastery of so much - and, I suppose, if I were to be perfectly honest, I really envy you your abilities. There is obviously a life long effort here - in what you do and are capable of doing - and I am so glad to see these things you do. I only wish I had started younger ...

Hi Lou,
Thanks but you flatter me. As I always say, I am not a writer. I am an artist, but I am also a great appreciator of human nature.

Do you remember a movie a couple years back with Robin Williams, called ‘What dreams may come?” If not, you should defintiely check it out. I’ll leave it at that.

Hi Vikki,
This is not an exageration at all. People who have panic attacks do behave this way. To normal people, it seems like an exageration, but to people with panic attacks, it's a life or death situation.

You conveyed the hopeless feeling and the dire situation of the woman so powerfully and intensely.

Your drawing shows her worry.

Hi Tashabud,
Thanks. Oh -I know people get into panic attacks. This character is actually based on my ex-husband. He'd go balistic every time he lost keys. Then his mood would abruptly change the moment he found them.

No deep message here. Just an observation on people. The portrait I selected is a beautiful older black woman by the name of Teresa.

I not only remember that movie, it is my favorite movie.

Hi Lou,
Wasn't that incredible movie? But I have to tell you I fell in love with Robin about 30 years ago. I enjoy everything he chooses to do. There's always a message.

I got to see him at the Comedy Store (twice) when he was 'Mork'. He stole my heart and never gave it back.

Sorry, Vikki, for jumping in your conversation with Lou.

It's just that I would never have guessed you, falling in love with Robin Williams. I do remember the show Mork and Mindy. Very Funny show.

Okay, I'm outta here. Talk to you later. Bye for now and bye to you also, Lou.

Hi Tashabud,
Jump in any time!
Robin seems like he’s so full of passion about whatever he does and just emanates a kind spirit. And he has one of those faces that only a mother could love. How could anyone not adore him? Definitely one of my favorite actor comedians.

Hi Sandy,
Thank you. Charcoal sketches are like the foundation of so much what do. It's always a good exercize.

Yes an exaggeration- but not that far from the way a lot of people are.
