The Damned

This is a little ditty I wrote for my kids when they were babies. It embraces my stimuli for the fairy series. Please enjoy and you’re welcome to share it with your family. A Fairy Poem by Vikki North:

I know there are fairies. I know they exist.
I was determined to find them in my midst.

I searched under rock and hollow of tree,
"Damn you fairies! Where could you be?”

I watch. I listen. I set in gaze.
Then smash a thing in the haze.

I look under foot and let out a scream.
It was a dead fairy- is what I mean!

Fairies small and fairies large,
Fleeing swiftly from my charge.

Stomping, stomping, loudly yell
“Go ye fairies back to hell!”

Hacking wings and bloody pie,
Godless things that need to die!

“Cry and scream you flying mutts,
I am going to kick your butts!”

Oh to horror I did see,
A fairy army coming for me.

These fairy things are not alone.
They call their friends with pheromone.

Running, falling, stinging bee.
To my house I surely flee.

Lesson learned I keep forever
To my breath when God doth sever.

Do not stomp on fairy bee,
Terror, tears and agony!

Yes. Your right. This is the Red Chair Gallery blog and I am Vikki North. I have no idea what I’m thinking- but I do know, in this day and time of war and inflation, a little humor is absolutely necessary to lighten our load. So if you can write a better poem, (smarty-pants), hit me with your best shot. Any subject will do: a poem, a joke, story or whatever you like. Get your ‘silly-on’. It’s the best medicine for your heart and mind. Make us laugh. Make us smile. Or just say hello. I dare you. I double dead fairy dare you. (And ‘no’ I never actually shared this with my children. My original poem reads slightly different on the Red Chair Gallery Fantasy Page.)

Post note- I received this last week from
Lou Ceel . I’ve read it over and again. It is so eloquently written and germane to everyone that participates in blogging. I just got lucky. Lou sent it to me. Comment on my Recycled Life Blog (4/20-4/27):
There are certain elements missing in these online relationships. There is, typically, no eye to eye, no face to face. There's just these little snippets of soul, hung out there like washing on the line. And just like that washing could say so much about the person who owned it, so these blog posts, over time, begin to paint a picture of the person who's soul it is, on display. I like your soul, Miss Vikki. I'm glad I found you.

Raffy- I’m so glad you came back to my site.

Mistress Martha-
Anyone who looks at bubble wrap and says- “Hey-another potential textural element for my master pieces!” hath silly well laden at her core. (Only second to an imagination I only aspire to realize)

Lou, my master of comedy-
I’ve read your hilarious personal site. Give us a joke.

Hi Vikki,

Lou says it much better than I ever could. I agree with him completely, so please add my name to his thoughts. I love your work. God can you paint. As I remarked before, I would love to see your paintings in real life.

Hope you had a nice holiday weekend.

Hi Fred,
You handsome, most brilliant man on a blog that I’ve ever known!

Thank you for your comments. You make me smile. I went to your blog this morning with the intent of stirring up as much trouble for you as I could think of. I accept this honorable task as my number one online responsibility.

The little man stands at the corner, waiting for the bus, reflecting on his life. His wife took off with his best friend, the bank is foreclosing, his daughter is pregnant and his son just got busted for drugs. His eyes drift heavenward and he mutters "Dear God, why me?" And the voice comes down from the clouds. "Because you piss me off."

That is really funny, Lou. You crack me up! Thanks.

My kiddos are lucky to get the Lawrence Welk song sung to them at night.... Good night, Sleep Tight and Pleasant Dreams to you!

Here's a Wish and a Prayer that all your dreams come true...."

Does it give me extra points that i sing it with an accent? No? Oh, well.... KC

I love these fairies the best of all. Now my brain is thinking of a fairy poem, when it all comes together I'll share here. You are such a huge inspiration to me. Words fail me. Looking at your work I can imagine how lucky your kids are to have a Mom like you...you know all these months, getting to know you, becoming friends with you, have been some of the best I've had in the past few years. Thanks for bringing your heart, soul, imagination, and humor into my life. I love you for you and I envy your talent with a paint brush. Today you are my fairy hero...and my real life friend. It's nice to have you in my life, and your work makes me want to become all I can be in my own medium and style. So, I guess this ended up as a love letter, but I don't care who sees how much I simply I adore you.

Hi Tony,
I remember reading that ‘There is no greater gift to woman than a man of few words.”
Come back and visit me Mr. San Diego.

K.C.-
No points for singing accents!! You’re too funny! Of course, I would have never actually terrorized my kids with a poem like ‘The Damned’. Although I did build a 10’ by 10’ Jaws- Killer of the Deep” Game for my son’s 5th grade class carnival. All the kids were screaming and yelling. It got great reviews! (The one and only time my son thought I was cool) Come back and visit.

Thank you for your love note. I love you also, but of course you know that. You just make my heart smile, Heather. You also made my day.
